Education

I graduated from Eastern Washington University and then attended law school at Gonzaga University School of Law.

Experience

After graduation from law school in 2001, I began work as a deputy prosecutor.

I progressed in rank at the Spokane County Prosecutor’s office, rising to the level of felony prosecutor.  After working for Spokane County I then took on a position that supplemented the City of Airway Heights Prosecutor office for four years.  During that time, I also established the firm of Hughes & Nelson Law.  I have practiced in a variety of areas of law ranging from wills, trusts and estates to bankruptcy, guardianships and family law.  Given the complexities and the demand for specialization in family law, I intentionally narrowed and focused my practice solely on this specific area of law.  Over my legal career I have litigated over a hundred cases to jury trial.  My proficiency in negotiations, mediations, and a wealth of experience in both jury and bench trials sets me apart in the realm of family law. Moreover, my extensive background in handling guardianship cases equips me with the ability to devise innovative solutions tailored to the specific needs of my clients.
